THE MEDICAL REGISTER (TEMPORARY REGISTRATION) ORDER (No. 2), 1941, DATED SEPTEMBER 23, 1941, MADE BY TWO SECRETARIES OF STATE AND THE MINISTER OF HEALTH UNDER REGULATION 32B of the DEFENCE (GENERAL) REGULATIONS, 1939.

In exercise of the powers conferred on us by Regulation 32B of the Defence (General) Regulations, 1939, and of all other powers enabling us in that behalf, acting jointly, we hereby order as follows:-
1.-(1) The Interpretation Act, 1889 (a), shall apply to the interpretation of this order as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.
(2) For the purposes of this order a person who has passed the examinations necessary to obtain a diploma shall be treated as if he held that diploma.
(3) In this order the following expressions shall have the re- spective meanings hereby assigned to them:-

hospital" includes—
(a) any sanatorium, convalescent home, or public
assistance institution;
(b) any institution within the meaning of the Mental Treatment Act, 1930, or institution, certified house, or approved home, within the meaning of the Mental Deficiency Act, 1913(b), or any institution within the meaning of the Lunacy (Scotland) Acts, 1857 to 1919, or certified institu- tion, certified house or approved home within the meaning of the Mental Deficiency and Lunacy (Scotland) Act, 1913(e), or any public mental hospital or registered institution within the meaning of the Mental Treatment Acts (Northern Ireland) 1932; and
(c) any clinic, dispensary, hospital centre or out-
patients' department;
"the Minister " means in relation to England and Wales the Minister of Health, and in relation to Scotland and Northern Ireland a Secretary of State.
